On Thursday, June 23 we held our June orientation to welcome the CDF Beat the Odds® class of 2018. Staff opened orientation by engaging students, parents, guardians and mentors with fun icebreakers then transitioned with an overview of the history of the Children’s Defense Fund, its mission, campaigns and policy priorities. Students were briefed on program benefits which include academic support, college tours, college essay writing workshops, meet and greet sessions with college representatives, mentoring, and life skills development.
